The Danish novelist, poet and playwright Hans Christian Andersen is known throughout the world primarily as a storyteller.  His tales and stories have been translated into more than 100 languages.  The strength and immortality of Andersen's fairy tales lies in the fact that they are poetic, wise, imbued with goodness, love for nature and beauty in all its manifestations.  Many heroes of his fairy tales are capable of self-sacrifice for the sake of love; they show examples of fearlessness, courage and loyalty.  In Andersen's fairy tales, any reader - both adults and children - will find their own.  It is difficult to list the performances, feature and animated films based on the wonderful fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen.
