Boston has a history spanning nearly four centuries. The biography of the city contains the names of Benjamin Franklin and Edgar Poe, Tchaikovsky and Nabokov, and the old cobbled streets saw British grenadiers and French travelers, Russian writers and Italian fortune seekers. The historical fate of Boston was predetermined by the future first governor of the Colony of Massachusetts Esq. John Winthrop.
