Iazykom matematiki [Language of Mathematics]

This book is not about math. It is about talking about mathematics, even if you understand almost nothing in it. Moreover, in English or translated from English. We all studied a little bit of mathematics at school. Then some of us chose specialties in which mathematics really need to be known, and some others became humanities, including devoting ourselves to the study of foreign languages, and even learned how to translate. We, linguists, hoped that mathematics could be forgotten forever - but it guarded us around the corner, and it turned out that without some, even basic, knowledge about it, it would be impossible to work as a translator. And it's not even about the fact that sometimes it is necessary to translate mathematical articles or reports themselves - there it would not surprise anyone. And not only that economists, and sociologists, and ecologists, and specialists from many other areas of activity that we have to translate operate with mathematical terms and concepts.
