1948. Little Joelle finds a new home on Jaffa Street in the port city of Haifa. At the same time, for the Palestinian Amal, her father's orange groves in the suburbs of Jaffa have become just a memory of a lost homeland. Both girls have no idea about the secret that not only connects them, but will also determine the fate of each. Their paths will converge in one person who will play a decisive role in the lives of both - the former German soldier Moritz, who renounced the war, his country, his family in Germany, his name, himself. And Moritz, who became Maurice, will spend his whole life searching for one person - his true self. His German family, his Jewish family, his Arab family – which of them is his true one, where is his main attachment and does he have roots at all?
