Ia prishel k tebe, Babii Iar [I Came to You, Babi Yar]

Yevgeny Yevtushenko tells about the history of the creation of the Thirteenth Symphony by Dmitry Shostakovich, which rightfully belongs to the great works of the 20th century, as well as the history of his poem 'Babi Yar', published in 'Literaturnaya Gazeta' in 1961 and immediately became an event. Shostakovich's music and Yevtushenko's poems told about the tragedy that happened in 1941 and created 'the first sounding monument to Babi Yar.' In the book, poetry alternates with memories, excerpts from letters, newspaper articles, documents - and it becomes clear to the reader that the echoes of that terrible event are heard to this day.
