Beg [Flight]

Flight is one of the most striking works of M.A. Bulgakov, which, like many other works, never saw the light during the life of the author. Disputes about him already in the early thirties passed into a purely political plane. According to 'responsible' workers, Flight idealized emigration and was 'harmful to the Soviet audience.' With this play, Bulgakov said goodbye to old Russia, and, as he understood, forever. Saying goodbye, he wondered: what happened to Russia, why the Russians destroyed each other, is it possible to return to the homeland exiles who voluntarily or involuntarily fell into the maelstrom of tragic events. The adaptation of Bulgakov's play 'Running' became one of the peaks of Soviet cinema. This publication is accompanied by an extensive commentary.
