The author of the book-album Joanna Stingray is an American singer, actress, music producer and public figure, one of the most significant persons and popularizers of Soviet and post-Soviet rock culture in the West. Joanna came to the USSR many times in the 1980s, lived in the country for a long time, was familiar with cult Soviet rock musicians - Boris Grebenshchikov, Viktor Tsoi, Konstantin Kinchev, Sergey Kurekhin, Garik Sukachev, Vyacheslav Butusov, and collaborated with them. She meticulously recorded everything that happened, taking thousands of photographs and hundreds of hours of video: concerts, rehearsals, interviews with musicians, artists, producers, journalists. Now this unique material is invaluable evidence of the historical process of the formation and development of Russian rock and Soviet art underground in its most fruitful 'golden' period. All materials in the book are published for the first time.
