Zapiski iz mertvogo doma [The House of the Dead]

NOTES FROM THE METVOY HOUSE were created by F.M. Dostoevsky based on his memoirs about his imprisonment in the Omsk prison in 1850-1854. The death sentence for participation in a revolutionary circle, replaced at the last moment by hard labor, being in shackles with criminals, close acquaintance with the torment and suffering of people, made a revolution in the writer's soul, which was reflected in all of his work. The work was highly appreciated by Dostoevsky's contemporaries and is still read with unflagging interest. The writer's deep reflections, descriptions of a convict life, touching stories about human destinies still easily find their way to the hearts of readers.
